Belmont club’s first winners

Daniel Gouws and Tony Gunton were the winners of the inaugural Viv Jordan Floating Trophy at the weekend’s Settler City Toyota Open.

Held over Saturday and Sunday, after a postponeme­nt of one day due to heavy rains last week, The Settler City Toyota Open was the first sponsored event to take place at The Belmont Golf Club.

Gouws and Gunton finished third on Saturday and tied third on Sunday to claim the trophy.

Overall winners on Saturday were Leon Claasen and Morne Sweeney with 48 points.

Finishing second were Ryan Williamson and Pieter Osthuizen on 47 points, winning on count-out from Gouws and Gunton.

Sunday was won by women’s pair Leigh Beckerling and Janine Beer with 48 points. Second with 44 points was Bob Shaw and Stuart Beer.

Tied third on 42 points were Aljie Bouwer and Derek Braans, Andrew Beer and Andrew Todd and Daniel Gouws and Tony Gunton.

Williamson and Oostuizen finished second overall for the two days.
