Museum staffer to play national tournament

Heine Kohl, a staff member at the Albany Museum, has been selected to represent the Eastern Province at table tennis at the National Public Servants Sports & Cultural Events Tournament (NPSSCE) in Mpumalanga this weekend (9 to 11 October). Heine participat­ed in provincial trials in Alice last month and was one of only four players selected out of 30 to go to the national event.

He used to participat­e in tournament­s back in his school days, representi­ng the South African District Sports Union (SADSU) under the banner of the South African School Sports Associatio­n (SASSA). Then he was playing rugby and cricket.

He says, “I am very excited to be participat­ing in this tournament and I promise to make Albany Museum and Grahamstow­n proud.”

The National Public Servants Sports and Cultural Events (NPSSCE) is an organizati­on that coordinate­s and facilitate­s civil servants' involvemen­t with sports activities. The Eastern Cape hosted the National Tournament in 2014. This year the event is in Mpumalanga and all nine provinces will take part in a range of sports including football, volleyball, netball, tugof-war, table and lawn tennis, table pool, chess, mraba-raba and Jukskei.
