Fund started for looted shopkeepers

Student publication, the Oppidan Press, has started a fund to help those local business people who have been affected by the recent looting.

According to their article, “over the last two days in Grahamstown, more than 85 businesses have been cleared out by looters in xenophobic protests. These business own- ers have lost thousands of rands in stock and damage to property”.

The Oppidan Press has agreed to help them raise money to get their businesses back on track. Grocott’s Mail supports this initiative.
