T24 JUNE 2016 he 2016 edition of the K-Day sports festival exceeded expectations as Kingswood played host to St Andrew's and DSG and the schools clashed in rugby, netball and hockey.

There were a total of 87 matches played across the three sporting codes in the week which began on Wednesday and culminated in the Kingswood vs St Andrew's 1st XV rugby match on Saturday.

The boys’ senior hockey got the week going on Wednesday and the main event saw St Andrew's 1st XI beat Kingswood 3-1 in what was an end-to-end game with some very impressive hockey on display.

Action resumed on Friday with boy’s junior hockey as well as junior and senior girls’ netball between Kingswood and DSG. The last match of the day saw Kingswood 1st team play DSG at the Kingswood High Performance Centre.

Kingswood went down 3322 in what was a tightly contested match where the K-Day spirit of camaraderie was evident in the two teams as they walked on to the court arm in arm.

Saturday had the town abuzz as junior through to senior girls’ hockey and boys’ rugby took place across the town at both Kingswood primary and high school. The morning saw Kingswood dominate the junior rugby with an impressive 35-0 win in the U11A match while the Kingswood U13A managed to resist a St Andrew's fight back to win a thriller 25-24. DSG were too good for Kingswood on the hockey field as they lost just one and drew three of the 19 matches across the age groups. This dominance could be seen in the 1st XI match which saw DSG come out 4-0 winners with an impressive performance from the team which has recently broken into the top three on the SA School’s Ranking list.
