Chilling with Gweezy

-

ILoyiso Dyongman t is that time of the year when people from different countries are gathering in Grahamstown to attend the 42nd National Arts Festival.

So many things will be happening in the City of Saints during these 11 days of excitement. But when you talk of excitement you need to inform the visitors where to go.

Grahamstown is blessed with different types of exciting places where people could go and enjoy themselves. Churchgoers will definitely not be lost because the town has churches left, right and centre.

Party animals could probably ask ANC Secretary General (SG) Gwede Mantashe about what the feeling of being at Phola’s tavern in Fingo Village in the evening is like.

The SG, also called “DJ Gweezy” entertained the crowd on Thursday last week as he was busy spinning the discs at Phola’s.

This was after his entire day of election campaigning, and he decided to take some time and relax a bit to show Grahamstown people how talented he was.

So that means if you say or think that Grahamstown is boring, then you need to go out and ask locals where to go.

There are also other interesting places to visit like the Albany Museum, 1820 Settlers Monument and quite a number of private game reserves.

For me the last and the thing which I am also waiting for with great anticipation is the closing concert at the Mickey Yili Stadium on Saturday, 9 July – and for now enjoy the festival shows and performances.
