Thank you for supporting Ben’s Ultra-marathon

A sincere thank you to our main sponsors for Ben’s UltraMarathon last month, namely GBS Bank, Rob Beer and advocate P Kroon.

There has been fantastic support from the public in general, various businesses in Grahamstown and also from our residents at Somerset Place.

Thank you to Luke from Adventures, for sponsoring the huge banner that was erected at the finish. A thank you to Tip Top Butchery for sponsoring the meat for the function at the finish, and to our friend Patricia Baart for the delicious curry that she made and the serving thereof.

There are far too many generous people to name individually but the response has been so overwhelming that we should be able to purchase four more state-of-the-art hospital beds for our Frail Care.

Thank you, too, to the spontaneous, friendly staff at GBS in Port Elizabeth who sent Ben on his way with specially labelled water bottles for his run. It was also lovely to meet Bessie Mears of GBS Port Alfred.

We are unable to give a final figure at this stage as, believe it or not, money is still coming in.

At the start in Port Elizabeth GBS Bank, Ben handed over a scroll with a goodwill message from the Grahamstown branch. He then ran the coastal road via Alexandria, Kenton, Bathurst and back to Grahamstown. On arriving in Port Alfred, he handed Bessie Mears a scroll from the Port Elizabeth branch and brought one from Port Alfred GBS to the finish, which was handed to the Grahamstown GBS representative, Patrick Hornby.
