The following poem “Yiza” (Come) is an introduction of Nolutshungu’s new poetry collection Iingcango Zentliziyo (Doors of a Heart) which will be launched during this National Arts Festival on 4 July, 1pm at St Peter’s Building, Rhodes University. Nolutshungu is an experienced and published author. In 2014 he obtained a Masters in Creative Writing (MACW) at Rhodes University under the supervision of Hleze Kunju (isiXhosa). He then edited that thesis into this book and was published by Imbizo Arts Publishers under Mxolisi Nyezwa. Imbizo Arts (2016) states that: “…Nolutshungu is the author of three isiXhosa novels and two collections of poems, isiXhosa and English. His poetry details the reflections of a sensitive poet in present-day South Africa. He questions the efficacy of assumed notions of what is acceptable and expected in modern societies”. This is definitely a book launch that should not be missed.
