MercedesCo­upé arrives

With the arrival of the new Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé at South African dealership­s comes further informatio­n on local pricing and derivative line-up.

With prices starting at R735 900, seven models are available with three petrol and three diesel engine variants, with the diesels ranging from the base-model 220d with a 4-cylinder that produces 125KW and 400Nm, to the 350da with a V6 block good for 190kW and 620Nm.

Petrol wise, customers have a choice of a 2.0-litre turbopetro­l, 155kW and 35Nm in the base 250, and 180kW and 370Nm in the middle-of-therange 300.

Headlining the range is the AMG variant, with the GLC 43 4MATIC Coupé boasting a V6 biturbo petrol engine, which churns out 270kW and 520Nm, and is able to accelerate from a standstill to 100km/h in 4.9 seconds.

All GLC Coupé models come standard with Mercedes’ 4MATIC All-Wheel-Drive system, mounted to a nine-speed automatic gearbox.

Customers have a choice between various trims that include Exclusive and AMG packages, with standard fea- tures including a keyless-GO function, reverse camera and a 20 CD multimedia system. Safety wise, the list includes seven airbags and collision prevention assist and attention assist systems.
