SINDI SPEAKS

-

nonke. We welcome you all to this week’s edition of Thetha Uvakale. This is an awesome space for the young people of Grahamstown to tell their stories, and to share their experiences, challenges, and goals.

In our previous edition we shared a rather impressive short poem on education by Analisa Mtsiba. In today’s article you will find that fellow learner Miss Zenande Makina, proposes that it is not just education alone that is the key to success, but that in her view there are a whole bunch of other things involved in order to succeed. She argues that we need practicle things, like books, pencils, and erasers too. She basically claims that the ideal of education is not so easy without actually having the tools, like pencils or books.

In our second story Sethu Booi reveals his love for squash. Not not the vegetable but the sport. Good news is and how the good news of his school being provided with new squash rackets and new takkies for them to play in. With so few schools offering squash we want to send a shout to Mary Waters for encouraging this sport.

Our Makana Star this week is Macvay Boko, a young go getter who is a bright light at Joza Youth Hub and Awarenet.

Readers, you do know you are welcome to nominate your Makana Star and share with us why you want that person to be our Star, what he/she has done for their communities, also your input and comment are welcomed. Look out for our next edition next week.
