Basketball wins for Kingswood

DSG played host to Kingswood for the last basketball fixture of the season. The DSG first team continue to improve as they have all season, and the gap against Kingswood has narrowed even further, this time losing 12-25. The DSG seconds lost 10-6 in their match.

DSG win in the pool

DSG hosted Kingswood on Saturday in for the final water polo fixtures of the season. Of the five matches played DSG won two, Kingswood won two and one match was drawn. In the 1st team match, DSG played with freedom and focus in the final game of the day, and were rewarded with a 7-0 win over Kings-wood. The DSG 2A’s and 2B’s both played Kingswood 2nds and drew 1-1 and lost 6-2, while DSG U15A’s took on the Kingswood U16A, Kingswood winning 7-6. The DSG U14A team did well to win 12-1.

100 plus caps

Jayme Cunningham passed the 100 cap milestone for the DSG water polo 1st team this season. Daisy Martin, Emma van Vuuren and Amy Anderson all played their 150th water polo games for the DSG 1st team this season.

Fifth placing for DSG Tennis

The DSG 1st tennis team travelled to East London last weekend to take part in the Selborne/Clarendon Mixed Doubles tournament. A total of eight teams took part, and DSG won three out of their five matches played, finishing 5th overall.

Athletics

A team of 10 DSG Athletes travelled to Port Elizabeth last Friday to take part in the Eastern Province Athletics Championsh­ips. Kendal Rose ran a qualifying time for SA Champs as she finished third in the U17 3000m race. Other top placings from DSG pupils included: Emma Podesta – 2nd in the U15 3 000m Emily Mclean – 3rd in the U15 1 500m Toni Rafferty – 3rd in the U17 400m

McDonald’s U14 Schools Soccer League registrati­on deadline Looms

The 2017 McDonald's U14 Schools League registrati­on is back and open to all schools in South Africa. The registrati­on process began on 11 January 2017 and many schools across the country have registered for the event, now in its eighth year. Registrati­on closes on 31 March 2017.

The tournament has in recent years produced players like Phakamani Mahlambi, Sibongakon­ke Mbatha and Kobamelo Kodisang who are currently representi­ng South Africa in Zambia at CAF U20 Cup.

Speaking about the league, Daniel Padiachy, Chief Marketing Officer of McDonald’s South Africa said: “The McDonald’s U14 Schools League has been entrenched in the concept of ‘Developing Dreams’ and over the years, we have been proud to witness those dreams become a reality for the young boys of this country”. Schools around the country are encouraged to register for the U14 McDonald’s Schools League 2017. League forms are available on the website www.saschoolsf­a.co.za.
