Double gold for Albany men
The Albany men's Bowling teams tasted sweet victory this season as they claimed the Eastern Area’s Men’s 1st and 2nd League titles for 2017 over the past weekend.
This is the first time in the Club’s history that the men have won both leagues in the same year.
After two months of hardfought battles against the likes of Grahamstown, Port Alfred, Kowie and Kenton Bowling Clubs, the men from Albany Bowling club finally lifted the winner’s pennant and the shield at Kenton Bowling Club over the Easter weekend.
Two teams from the same club make up each league team, with the scores being added for the final tally. Therefore, it takes a superb team effort as well as great individual play for both sets of the men’s teams to come out victorious.
The men from Albany showed this in abundance as the 1st league team romped home with 29 points and a shot profit of 106 for the season, while the 2nd league team scoring an outstanding 37 points with a shot profit of 68.
The Albany Bowling Club hope to continue this success into the next season, hoping that this year will not be the only year to see both men's teams finish on top.
