EXPERT ADVICE
Repairs are not reserved for enamel tubs only, says Johnny Lamprecht of Bathroom Bizarre.
“Scratches on acrylic baths can also be fixed. If you’re handy, do it yourself; if it’s a more difficult repair, call in the experts. However, some acrylic baths just aren’t repairable,” he explains.
• For light scratches or marks, sand the affected area with 1 200-grit waterpaper (waterproof sandpaper) and then polish with a good car polish or a product such as Brasso to bring back the gloss. Rinse the residue off with warm water before using the bath.
• For deep scratches, burn marks and chips, use a repair kit from Bathroom Bizarre; you’ll need professional assistance.
