EXPERT ADVICE

Cement-based bathroom coatings are a very practical and popular solution, says Joanne Sykes of Cemcrete.

It’s important to remember that you won’t use the same Cemcrete finish for both the walls and floors of your bathroom; however, a similar finish and colour can still be achieved to create a coherent look.

CreteCote is Cemcrete’s answer to flooring renovations; it’s a 1.6mm cement-based skim coating that can be used to coat the floor as well as a built-in bathroom vanity. For a new bathroom floor where a new screed is to be laid, Cemcrete’s Colour Hardener is the perfect choice as it is a dry-shake finish applied on the fresh screed to colour and strengthen it.

Two very popular wall coatings for bathrooms are Cemcrete’s SatinCrete, a decorative coloured plaster, and CemCote Skimmed, a trowel-on cement wall coating. Both can also be used to coat a built-in vanity, basin or even a bath.
