How to master the Moroccan look
Love the colours and patterns of this North African country? Stylist and interior decorator Amanda van Wyngaardt tells you how to achieve the look:
Architectural detail Screed steps leading up to the bath are typically Moroccan. Bear in mind that screed cracks slightly and hair dye might stain it.
Traditional accents Add a few accessories with typical Moroccan features; here, the lanterns and mirrors provide the necessary exotic detail. A soothing base colour A seamless monochrome base colour – in this case a fresh white – for the walls, vanity and floor creates a tranquil earthy atmosphere.
Bold accents Introduce colour and patterns with fabric; in this bathroom, bright blue towels add an invigorating pop of colour. Moroccan silverware Chunky silver bowls, urns and vases that are either hammered or engraved stand proud as dramatic ornaments. Rustic touches The kist, mirror frames and lanterns counterbalance the white interior, vanity and floor. CONTACT Sachar Pistorius 072 598 4402
