Considering a cement finish?

Inez’s bathroom walls and floors were done by Crete and Wall Creations, which specialises in colour cement floors and screed wall plastering.

“Once the tiles and glue were removed and the surfaces were diamond-grinded, we applied a light grey screed over the existing cement on the floor and a light grey mottled plaster on the walls,” says owner Manie Vermeulen. “The walls and floors were then waterproofed with our own cementitious product, followed by two coats of a polyurethane sealant.”

Both products can be used over tiles too, says Manie, provided the tiles are not cracked. “We sand the tiles thoroughly and plaster with crack-reducing fibrous mesh before applying the 4–5mm screed.”

The colour plaster and the colour cement are available in more than 20 colours.
