Colour is one of the most affordable and simplest ways of creating an ambience and adding character to a room in your home. Dulux Colours of the Worldtm paint is washable, low odour and ideal for interior walls.
This shabby chic space was transformed with paint from the Peaceful Scandinaviatm palette. Inspired by the beauty of Scandinavia’s icy winter landscape, this soothing, fresh palette consists of five pre-mixed colours that all complement each other, taking the stress out of choosing colour combinations.
Frame your window
Artwork is not the only way to add interest to walls; the window was turned into a feature by painting a frame around it in Rich Scandinaviatm, the same shade as the focal wall. The wall alongside the window was painted in Gentle Scandinaviatm.
Refresh furniture
Paint also helps to give existing furniture a fresh look. The panels of an old cupboard were given a coat of Truly Scandinaviatm so it ties in better with the new colour scheme.
The right accents
To further enhance the trendy Scandinavian look, accents in rustic light wood were added, such as the upcycled cattle feeding trough which now serves as a bookshelf and the cable reel drum which is used as a bedside table. An industrial floor lamp adds a contemporary touch.
Groupings of interesting collectibles in neutral shades add character – and what’s a Scandinavian aesthetic without a caribou antler in resin (the one pictured is from Weylandts)? The finishing touch is provided by soft furnishings in pops of icy blue.
