Main alterations

1THE FRONT DOOR COURTYARD Irrigation and lighting were installed in flowerbeds. Shrubs and flowering plants were introduced to soften the look.

A balau box, which doubles as a bench, was installed to conceal unsightly plumbing. Bonsais on the bench add a special touch.

THE BACK GARDEN All the grass was cleared and replaced with artificial lawn, while irrigation and lighting were installed in the flowerbeds. A jacuzzi and a braai pit ( opposite page, far right) were installed with pavers around them.

A balau deck was built in an awkward narrow space next to the patio ( opposite left) to round off the look. A wide concrete shelf was mounted on the patio wall for easy entertaining.
