The project
A room that had been added onto the stoep and served as an extra bedroom was demolished; a bathroom that had been added on at the same time was enlarged. When they started building the bathroom walls, one of them caved in and had to be rebuilt.
The bathroom floor was replaced and a window installed at the same height as the other stoep windows. The frame was replaced to match those in the rest of the house.
Next up was painting, new gutters, repairs to the fascias and sanding of the front door. “We also got the lawn going again and planted lavender bushes to complete the picture,” says Esmi.
