When Peter and Anita Marais of Klerksdorp came across a farmhouse for sale near Wolmaransstad six years ago, they bought it as a weekend getaway. But the façade was just awful, says Anita.

“We really disliked the fake stone look and high stoep walls.” So the couple had the exterior of the house plastered and painted with Dulux Karoo Land, and they also removed the tree stump pillars.

“Towards the end, we really couldn’t wait for the job to be done!” Anita recalls. These days, they often visit the farm – even during the week. “We’ll use any excuse to come here, even if it’s just to check up on a calf that’s struggling to drink!” >>
