The margin for error in a long-distance renovation is great! Any stories to tell?

Nigel wanted new basins in the en-suite bathroom and I insisted on two rows of tiles between the basins and the mirror. The builder warned me that the mirror would be too high and, of course, he was right. Nigel is tall enough to use it for shaving, but I have to apply my makeup in the bedroom!

What do you like most about the project?

By taking out the bar, previously located between the kitchen/dining area and larger living room, we were able to create a thoroughfare and a second smaller seating area that connects the two spaces. This has made a huge difference to the natural light and flow between the spaces.

What was your most practical decision?

We installed the same vinyl flooring throughout the house; it looks just like wood but is so much easier to clean.

Do you have a favourite finish?

I love how the dark grey accent walls show off our ceramics, artworks and other collectibles. home RENOVATIONS 2018
