ON THE JOB...
1
The top cabinets were removed and replaced with two open shelves. Two cabinets at the bottom were also removed to make way for the new gas stove; a section of the granite countertop had to be cut out. Rudolph used a spray paint machine to coat the cabinets with auto paint.
2
The slatted cupboards above the sink in the scullery were replaced with some of the top cupboards that were removed from the kitchen.
3
New wooden frames were custom made and glued onto the existing cupboard doors to give them a Shaker-style look. Auto body filler putty was used to fill any gaps or depressions and then sanded; this process of filling and sanding had to be repeated quite a few times on all 17 of the doors. Little Amelie lent a hand during the process!
It took us weeks on end to glue, sand and paint the cupboard doors! – Liesl
