The great outdoors
The house required minimal renovations – not much more than paint – and the black steel-framed windows were among the many architectural details that the Brinks appreciated.
And, of course, they fell in love with the spacious outdoor entertainment area. “We have always enjoyed entertaining and the moment we entered the house, we could see that it would be the perfect spot for socialising.” The space faces north-west but in summer the roof keeps the sun out and the lush coastal vegetation surrounding it helps to keep the area cool.
With the long table, a comfy sitting area and a fireplace, this is the ideal spot to get together with friends and family, or spend time with each other after a busy day.
“We love relaxing around the fire with friends and braai a few times a week, all year round. We’ve had more than 20 people around this table in one sitting but we use it regularly, even if it’s just the three of us.”
A firm believer that even the most functional things should be beautiful, Jayne has extended this philosophy to their home.
“I love to surround myself with interesting, unusual and beautiful items. Andries and I both grew up in gorgeous homes and I think that this really influences how you live,” Jayne explains. >>
