What were some of the lessons learnt

during the renovation? We learnt to compromise. It’s not just about one individual’s taste. Always be aware that both you and your partner are going to live in this space, so ensure that both of your needs are met.

It’s also better to have a plan. Sometimes, beautiful accidents happen while a project is underway but we found that, most times, a proper plan leads to the best results. Any cost-cutting tips? We upcycle quite a bit, instead of buying new. We’re always amazed by what a little sandpaper and a can of spray paint can achieve! The few pieces we purchased were bought second-hand on Facebook and Gumtree or at secondhand stores. And ask family and friends to pitch in. All of ours have been incredibly helpful in making our little house a home.
