THEIR WORK When practicing architects Luca van der Merwe-Streicher and David Sharkey decided to launch a décor offering, they based their pieces on raw concrete – a material they’re both familiar with from work in the building industry. “After a month of making a huge mess in our apartments, we managed to create hundreds of rejects and a few pieces good enough to gift to friends and family,” Luca says. These days it’s a whole different story. Now their individually handcrafted décor pieces (including planters, candleholders, vases and coasters) are sold at LIM Furniture in Cape Town or directly from them.
