Sleep Lessons with Granny Goose Founder

-

Research has shown that a good night’s rest improves your physical and mental health. Therefore, when shopping for bedding, it is best to invest in quality, comfy and durable products. Gaynor Walkey, founder of Granny Goose – the leaders in quality down, feather and cotton products for over 25 years – answers some important questions about choosing the right products for your best sleep.

Why should I invest in natural fill pillows and duvets, and not just opt for synthetic?

There are a number of reasons: • It is warmer and lighter than synthetic fill • It is puffier, retains its loft and – where synthetic fibre tends to clump together over time – down remains evenly distributed • It simply lasts longer

What if I am allergic to down?

Contrary to popular belief, genuine allergies to down are not that common (although they can occur). Most allergies to down stem from dust and the dust mite. However, all Granny Goose natural fill products are triple de-dusted as part of their rigorous cleaning process. This, with the tightly woven cotton down-proof fabric, prevents the dust mites from entering the casing. If you are still experiencing an allergic reaction, Granny Goose also supplies high quality microfiber alternatives.

Where do you source the feathers from?

Our down and feathers are a 100% renewable resource – they’re a by-product harvested from ducks and geese farmed commercially for human consumption. No wild birds are harmed in the making of these products.

I’ve heard the term “tog value”, but what does it mean?

The tog value measures the warmth to weight ratio of a duvet. It is the ability of the down-filled duvet to retain heat, while still being extremely light. Therefore, the higher the tog value, the warmer and lighter the duvet will be.
