#7 A green dream

Pastel green in a holiday home at Misty Cliffs in the Western Cape conjures up dreamy images of the ocean, sunshine and tranquillity. Green paint on all four walls, as well as on the ceiling, shows that colour doesn’t have to be limited to a single surface. This home also has wooden panels on the inside, which enhances a beach house feel.

It works because…

DARK GREEN is used as an accent colour; it works well with the pastel green of the rug, which is made from silk sari fabric. A variety of plants add extra shades of green.

RICH TEXTURES as in the embroidered blanket and pillowcases from Marrakesh, Morocco create a lush feel. The blanket is a work of art in itself and complements the two abstract artworks on either side of the window above the bed.

ACCENTS such as the single red ceramic piece on the headboard add interest.
