CREATE ZONES
• The lounge is on a lower level than the entrance hall and kitchen. With three wooden steps leading down to it, it forms a zone on its own.
• A steel railing separates the lounge from the entrance hall on the upper level, yet the spaces still feel like one. The railing also offered the ideal spot for a sideboard, which serves to define the entrance hall.
• Ornate pillars separate the entrance hall from the dining room-cum-kitchen.
• Different floor materials demarcate the various zones: the lounge and entrance hall boast the original parquet floors, while the kitchen has a cement floor.
