Move your veggie growing indoors this month by experiment­ing with crunchy sprouts for sprinkling over salads, adding to sandwiches or eating as healthy snacks.

Sprouts are basically seeds that have germinated but not yet grown into seedlings. Plants suitable for growing and eating as sprouts include chickpeas, mung beans, lentils, soya beans and alfalfa. These plants are full of minerals, vitamins and proteins that help strengthen the body’s immunity to colds, coughs and flu; find them at health shops or supermarke­ts.
