1 Make the short shelves

Make the two shorter shelves by placing a 600 x 480mm top and bottom plank on their sides, with the 620mm front piece at a right angle. Drill pilot holes, and glue and screw the front piece to the edges of the top and bottom. Complete the short shelves by securing a 500mm side plank across one open end against the sloping front edge. This gives you a hollow shelf with an open side and back that can slide over the anchoring strips on the wall. Make sure the 550mm anchoring strip fits perfectly in the rear slot and the 450mm anchoring strip fits perfectly in the side slot. Fill all screw holes with wood filler, allow to dry and sand to a smooth finish. Paint or varnish the shelf in the finish or colour of your choice.
