The delicious silky texture of this ridiculously easy dessert will steal hearts.
Makes 12 slices
Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 45 minutes to 1 hour Oven temperature: 180°C
• 2 tins (385g each) condensed milk • 250ml milk
• 200ml cocoa powder
• 7ml cornflour
• 5ml brandy, vanilla essence or instant coffee powder
• 4 extra-large eggs, at room temperature • melted chocolate, chocolate chips and berries, to serve
1 Preheat the oven and spray a bundt cake tin with a capacity of at least 1.2L with non-stick cooking spray; then place in an ovenproof dish in which it fits snugly.
2 Mix all the ingredients with a stick blender until just smooth, then pour into the prepared tin. Carefully fill the oven dish with hot water until the bottom half of the bundt tin is lying in water. Bake for about 45 minutes or until the flan just wobbles when you gently shake the tin. Immediately remove from the oven and the water, and allow to cool. Refrigerate until completely cold and set.
3 Carefully loosen the dessert around the edge with a small palette knife before turning it out. Place a plate over the top of the bundt tin and turn it over in one quick motion. Carefully lift off the tin. The flan is delicious as is, but looks even better with melted chocolate drizzled over and finished off with chocolate sprinkles. Serve with berries for a bit of colour.
