Coat of many colours

Philodendron ‘Black Cardinal’ is a rare variety that is prized for the varying colours of its foliage; new reddish-brown leaves mature to a dark olive-green and finally black. This feature plant can grow up to 1m tall and 50cm wide under the right conditions: bright indirect light and watering only when the top layer of soil is dry. In spring and summer, feed with a liquid fertiliser once a month. Being a tropical plant from South America, it likes a warm, moderately humid room such as a living room, kitchen or bathroom.

Keep the plant neat by removing old leaves. It is frost tender and should be kept indoors in winter.
