A luxe touch

-

When Laurent Bayard bought and renovated this historic home in Hopefield 10 years ago, he transformed it into what he calls ‘a dream house’ with en-suite bathrooms for its five bedrooms. Inspired by a small town in France where his grandparents had a holiday home when he was a child, Laurent named his guesthouse Couvaloup, which means “the wolf’s den” in French.

He highlighted the home’s past with various architectural elements and finishes and added his own flair with lots of artworks from his large, eclectic collection – even in the bathrooms!

The en-suite bathroom adjacent to Laurent Room, as the suite is called, boasts a wood-burning stove and Victorian bath in front of a huge teak window. It’s the ultimate in luxury!

“When you bath in front of a woodburning stove, especially on a cold night, it’s a pretty magical experience.
