Local lovelies
Available in a stunning range of colours, arum lilies (Zantedeschia spp.) perform best in moist soil in a sunny to semi-shaded spot, and thrive if given a monthly dose of fertiliser during their flowering period. Grow them in containers on the patio or along the edge of flowerbeds to create a stylish, vibrant border. Potted arums (also known as calla lilies) can be transplanted from the end of August.
Top tip! Arum lilies require a dormant period once flowering has ceased. During this time, reduce watering to allow the plant to die back.
