THE ERA OF EYEGLASSES

ONCE UPON A TIME, SPECTACLES WERE LITTLE MORE THAN THE NERDY COUSIN OF THE ULTRA-GLAMOROUS SUNGLASSES. THOSE WHO HAD TO WEAR THEM SIGHED AT THEIR MISFORTUNE, WHILE THOSE WITHOUT THEM EITHER SILENTLY THANKED THEIR LUCKY STARS OR LOUDLY PROCLAIMED THEIR SUPERIOR VISION USING SUCH (UN)CREATIVE METHODS AS MOCKERY AND CRUEL JIBES. IT WAS HARD WEARING SPECS BACK THEN, BUT OH, HOW THE TABLES HAVE TURNED.

This is thanks to a combination of elements, such as societal shifts in attitudes towards eyeglasses, or perhaps towards bullying. Outrageously popular and bespectacled celebs? Witty marketing strategies that have helped to push at the boundaries of fashion?

Whatever it is that spurred this change, spectacles have really come into their own. They’ve made it through the awkward teenage years, not really certain who they were: Did they belong in the clinical environment of an optometric practice that looked and felt just like the local GP’s, or were they were meant for something else?

New concept retailers like Execuspecs have been paving the way in defining what that “something else” could look like with an exciting collaboration of clinical expertise, technology, and some serious vogue. So much so that non-prescription spectacles are now a thing for people who don’t need to wear specs, but want to.Who would’ve thought?

Yet also, how could we not have seen this coming, right? The potential has been there all along, staring us in the face. Literally.

Specs have such a huge impact on the way we look, and each different style adds something new. Want to highlight your serious, ambitious side? Specs can do that for you.Want to soften an angular face, or add some solid lines to a softer face? There’s a pair of specs that’ll do that too.Your specs can make an ironic pop-culture reference, reclaim a banging retro style, or communicate any number of things about who you are.

As it turns out, specs are a fashion accessory par excellence. One you can’t miss, that has the power to subtly or significantly alter the most noticeable portion of your anatomy. And let’s not forget that they also frame the windows to your soul.

So, find your way to your nearest Execuspecs store and you’ll be in exactly the right space to explore the possibilities of that potential for your particular visage. You’ll love the vibe of these stores, and the way time slows down as you decide on the look you’d like to present to the world. And with staff dedicated to helping you find just the right specs to suit your style, you’re certain to find a pair – or three – to enhance not only your vision, but also your whole self.
