HEART WARMERS OF THE MONTH
Our employees are the brains behind our whole operation and a huge driver of our success as an airline, which is why we want to reward them with some well-deserved recognition. Here are three staff members who have warmed our hearts this month.
Shaaista joined the FlySafair team in October 2017 as the Durban Base Manager. She has a vast amount of experience in aviation specialising in ground handling services that include passenger and ramp services. Shaaista has improved every aspect and every department at Durban Airport through her excellent work ethic. She is a true leader and her professionalism is something that we can all adopt. A true Safarian with passion and dedication!
Karen is a perfect example of Safair’s Gladiator spirit. Since she joined the Safair family she’s contributed in various ways across the business, and not only the IT Innovation team. You won’t often hear the words “no” or “we can’t” but instead you’ll hear words like “yes, of course” or “we’ll make a plan” from Karen. We love the energy she brings to the team and her willingness to always go beyond her normal duties makes Karen a valuable asset to Safair and ultimately our internal and external customers.
Lindie is our Aircraft Movement Manager, which means she is responsible for ensuring that our aircraft are always in the air when they need to be or that our aircraft are always available and ready for takeoff. This means she is very much responsible for the excellent on-time performance we have achieved. Her position scope is something that requires a lot of dedication and focus, as she needs to be ready at any given time to find a solution to any irregularities that may occur. We couldn’t think of anyone better-suited for this job, as she leads her team by example and performs very well under pressure.
Basie is a retiree that we contract back to supplement the permanent complement of Avionic Technicians in the hanger and the Flight Line. Basie is a dedicated experienced technician that is always willing to help Safair when there is a problem. He has been part of the Safair technical family for years. When one of our contract operations in Harare, Zimbabwe, had a technical issue, he was able to travel at an hour’s notice to help repair the aircraft. We see this as exceptional dedication to the company and we’re proud to have him as a part of our Safair family.
