The Okavango Delta Music Festival will celebrate African music in a wild and ancient forest, surrounded by a beautiful floodplain in the Okavango Delta from 31st August to 2nd September. The event promises over 20 unique musicians and bands, as well as circus acts, drumming circles, and fire-dancers from all over Southern Africa, for Botswana residents and visiting tourists to enjoy whilst simultaneously creating a sustainable way of alleviating poverty in the Tsutsu be ga community, located 27 km from Maun. The Tsutsu be ga community will host the music festival annually to raise funds and help improve the livelihoods of its community members. The festival will be held in the dry season when the floods from Angola surround the islands with crystal-clear Okavango waters, transforming the area into a watery wonderland. Festival goers can also look forward to a cinema, a yoga camp, beer tents, food stalls, kids’ entertainment, cabaret, a silent disco, and local art installations.
