WHAT’S IN A NAME?

Yiza Ekhaya: Xhosa, meaning “come home”.

Wathint’ Abafazi: This was inspired by the phrase “wathint’ abafazi, wathint’ imbokodo”, meaning “you strike a woman, you strike a rock”, words from a famous resistance song that have come to symbolise the courage and strength expressed at the Women’s March of 1956 as South African women refused to give in to increasing oppression.
