CEO Letter
Welcome aboard your SA Express flight and regardless of your destination, thank you for choosing to travel with us.
October is Transport Month and therefore a sentimental month for us as an airline. Launched in 2005, Transport Month showcases the important role of transport in fostering economic growth-and connectivity, which further leads to accessibility and urbanisation. SA Express remains steadfast in its mission of being an integrated, sustainable regional airline connecting secondary and main hubs. The Department of Transport encourages each one of us to participate in the provision of a safe, more affordable, accessible and reliable transport system for South Africa.
During this period of reform, your positive feedback has been awe-inspiring. It encourages the SA Express team to continue to work hard as we endeavour to meet and exceed your expectations. I believe that it is symbolic that there has been a marked increase in positive feedback from our passengers during Spring, the season of rebirth. As our most important investor, your input, feedback and support are invaluable to our proudly South African airline.
As we strive for a reformed and re-envisaged SA Express, your feedback is a constant reminder that the fruits of our labour do not go unnoticed. This restores our confidence that we can rise above our circumstances, and soar.
In this regard, it is with great pleasure that I introduce to you our continuous transformational improvement programme, S.O.A.R. S.O.A.R stands for Sustainable Organisational Agile/Accelerated Reform. This programme focuses on four main drivers: people (to improve morale and increase accountability and productivity); sustainable operations (to improve operational and financial sustainability); brand positioning (to reposition brand SA Express to all stakeholders); and governance (to restructure the organisation and enhance the compliance of processes and practices). This is our roadmap to a re-envisioned SA Express.
S.O.A.R will enable the turnaround of the airline’s operations by implementing a change mechanism, as well as the processes required to drive significant operational improvements. True change is not an event, but a journey, one of rediscovery and betterment. This journey is one that I hope you, our passenger, will continue to support and engage in, but equally challenge us about.
October is also an important awareness month. This month we highlight important socio-economic challenges, environmental commemoration days, as well as physical and mental illnesses. 17th October is International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, a cause with which SA Express as a State Owned Company (SOC) strongly identifies.
I look forward to hearing from you on victor.xaba@flyexpress.aero – and to you sharing how you S.O.A.R with SA Express!
Until we meet on board!
