CEO Letter

- Always, Siza

We can all agree that we ended the last year with a mixed bag of events and experiences. In retrospect, the highs were extremely high and the lows were devastatingly low. Together, we trudged through a disorienting power crisis and also navigated unstable economic conditions, which resulted in many large public and private sector businesses downscaling – leaving many individuals jobless.

On the flip side, South Africans were euphoric and rallied together when our beloved Springboks won the Rugby World Cup for our country, and celebrated when our stunning Miss South Africa claimed the title of Miss Universe! Now, if these are not shining examples of what we are capable of as individuals and as a nation, I don’t know what is.

Now, it’s a brand-new year – and the beginning of a new decade, the 2020s. This is an opportunity to start afresh and build on our wins, while learning from our losses. While we celebrate the start of an era that fully embraces technological modernity with all its conveniences and efficiencies, let us not overlook the importance of being human and forging deeper, more meaningful connections with each other in this information age.

The focus for SA Express this year is to continue to work on rebuilding our airline to its former glory as the regional carrier of choice in the hearts and minds of all our valued customers. 2020 will see us announce and operate more new routes that will further strengthen our network and provide an optimised flight schedule for improved customer convenience.

Re-energised and rejuvenated, we are committed to starting and finishing the year strong, by working towards timeously completing each of our milestones until we achieve our vision.

So, as we all list our New Year’s resolutions and make those new goals, let’s also pull together and effectively use our skills and talents, like our rugby heroes have done, to take our country forward and make 2020 a great year! It is, without a doubt, possible!

All of us at SA Express thank you for continuing to choose our airline and wish you much joy and prosperity in 2020.
