Meet the Crew
Have you ever wondered who is flying the plane when you travel on SA Express? Or wanted to know more about what a job as a cabin crew member is like? Well, now’s your chance! Every month we will introduce a member of our SA Express family – because by getting to know them, you become part of the SA Express family too.

Please tell us about the very first time you ever flew (in a personal capacity).
My first flight ever was to Johannesburg to visit my brother. I remember my face being practically stuck to the window for the entire flight, as I was mesmerised by the view and how such a big machine could seem to float in the sky. I was hooked after that.
Where are your favourite destinations to travel to?
Internationally, I love travelling to any part of Europe and experiencing all the different cultures and food. Locally, there’s nowhere better than the Cape West Coast, with its beautiful beaches and friendly people.
What do you love most about your job?
As clichéd as it sounds, I love meeting new people on board and listening to their life experiences. We can learn so much from each other as human beings just by taking a little time to chat.
What’s your best passenger memory?
There was a young couple on board who had just gotten married and were on their honeymoon. My colleague and I served them some sparkling wine in our little ice bucket, wrapped in a white napkin like in the fancy restaurants, and we made a sweet announcement wishing them well. Needless to say, the other passengers celebrated with them.
What tips would you like to give passengers for a better flying experience?
To have a great flying experience, all you need is patience. Things always take a little longer, and queues always move a little slower than expected, so a little patience goes a long way. And always be nice to the crew – they’re in charge of extra snacks!
What do you love most about flying?
I love how every day is different. There’s different crew, new passengers and different destinations every time I fly. But the best part is seeing Table Mountain every time we land back home.
