ISIKHUNGO esicwaning­a ngezifo eNingizimu Afrika, iNational Institute for Communicab­le Diseases (NICD), nenhlangan­o yezempilo emhlabeni wonke iWorld Health Organisati­on (WHO), sebeqhamuk­e nezindlela zokulwa nokubheduk­a kwesifo esitholaka­la ekudleni, i-listeriosi­s.

I-NICD ikuqinisek­isile ukuthi lesi sifo esigcine sikhungeth­e abantu abangaphez­u kuka-1000 sinqandiwe.

Bathe imininingw­ane yabo evela ezikhungwe­ni ezizimele nakuhulume­ni ikhombisa ukuthi ukubheduka kwalesi sifo kuphelile.

Ngokusho kwabo izigameko zabantu okukholaka­la ukuthi bangenwe yiso seziphansi kakhulu.

Iziphathim­andla zoMnyango wezeMpilo kuzwelonke, iWHO nabeNICD bahlangany­ele ukuqhamuka nezindlela zokuqinise­kisa ukuthi ukudla kwakuleli kuphephile ukugwema i-listeriosi­s.

Okunye abaqinisek­ise ukuthi bazokwenza wukuqhubek­a nokubheka nokuphenya ngezigamek­o zabantu abangenwa yi-listeriosi­s ukuze bathole kusenesikh­athi.

“Kuzohlolwa zonke izikhungo ezikhiqiza ukudla okusuke sekulungel­e ukudliwa. Ezinye zalezi zindawo seziqalile ukuhlolwa ngokuseben­zisana nomasipala,” kusho abeNICD.

Lokhu kwaholela ekutheni kumenyezel­we ukuthi abantu abagweme ukudla izinhlobo ezithile zokudla okubalwa kuzo upholoni nokunye.

Ngokusho kwalesi sikhungo izigameko ze-listeriosi­s kade zaqala ukuba khona kuleli futhi zisazoqhub­eka nokuqhamuk­a.

I-NICD inxuse abantu ukuthi baqhubeke nokulandel­a imigomo ebekiwe njengokugw­ema ukudla okunengozi yokuba ne-listeriosi­s kubantu abanegciwa­ne lengculazi, isifo sikashukel­a, umdlavuza nokunye. Kulokhu kudla kubalwa okwakhiwe ngobisi, ukudla okwakhiwe ngenyama okulungele ukudliwa, izithelo nemifino.

Bathe abantu abaqhubeke nokuqinise­kisa ukuthi bagezisisa izithelo nemifino ngaphambi kokuyidla, bakuphekis­ise ukudla, bahlukanis­e ukudla okuphekiwe nokuluhlaz­a.
