“Winning should be dressed sensibly”

-

Steve Komphela feels he has the squad to win the League and Nedbank Cup – and all the while playing with style. “Our winning should not be naked,” Komphela says. “Our winning should be dressed sensibly; a win that pleases the eye. It’s a show, and people have to enjoy the show. “I think stats sum everything up. We have been to two cup finals ... with Chiefs, you can go there but if you don’t bring it home, then it’s not enough. “However, if you were to fast-forward and look back after success, you would say these were movements towards success, if we succeed. If I was to die tomorrow, they will say, ‘We hope this guy was going to do something good’. So the two finals will only dictate when we reach the future to determine if it was a step towards, or if that was the ultimate, success. “In terms of the League, we are three points away from our target, five points away from the leaders, second best defence, second best offense ... that says it all. We have to keep on working because nothing has been achieved just yet. The Nedbank Cup and the League is still there for the taking, so we have to fight for both.” “And with regard to rotation of players, we acknowledge that not everybody at Naturena has been used so you don’t just have to be drastic and make changes. “If you bring in a striker what are going to do to Ndulula? Did you do any justice to Zulu? Inasmuch as you don’t want to waste time, you must acknowledge the fact that you haven’t used them.”
