Freddy “Saddam” Maake (Kaizer Chiefs Supporter)

Kick Off - - FEATURE -

“I know Mario very well from his time with Kaizer Chiefs. He was a good coach, a motivator and was good with players. He groomed a lot of good players before leaving for Mamelodi Sundowns. He was not that different to the late Jeff Buttler – they did a marvellous job. When Mario was coach, we knew we were going to beat our opponents. We knew that when we were going to the stadium, we were going to get a result. But right now, things are not the same – things are not like what they used to back then. We used to beat teams. Mario was the best coach and he knew everything about this country, even though he was not from here. I remember one day, Kaizer Chiefs lost a match and the supporters locked him inside the stadium. And I was very surprised – I did not expect that. He was cool and didn’t talk a lot. On behalf of the supporters, I would like to thank him for what he did for this club. And to all supporters, they must persevere because we will enjoy those days again.”
