PERENNIAL PRESENCE
Deon Hotto was only second to former Bloemfontein Celtic teammate Patrick Tignyemb on the list of players who piled up the most games across all competitions in the PSL last season. While Hotto missed two games – both in the Nedbank Cup – Tignyemb missed just one, also in the Nedbank Cup win over Richards Bay, as fellow gloveman Kabelo Dambe was handed a rare chance. Just like Hotto, Tignyemb also played in every league match across the season, yet for a goalkeeper, this is somewhat less impressive in his specialised position. Besides missing the two Nedbank Cup games, Hotto featured in all four Telkom Knockout clashes as Siwelele negotiated their way to the final before coming unstuck against Bidvest Wits. Other players who notched up 30 league appearances last season include Free State Stars goalkeeper Badra Ali Sangare, Daniel Cardoso and former Kaizer Chiefs teammate Siphiwe Tshabalala as well as ex-Mamelodi Sundowns star Percy Tau, who is now playing in Belgium.
