PSL clubs need CAF participation
Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates are participating in the CAF Champions League while Kaizer Chiefs are partaking in CAF Confederation Cup. The more clubs take part in such competitions, the more experience our players will get. This will boost the standard of our league and reinforce our ailing national squads. The Buccaneers and the Brazilians will be inspired by the fact that they have already won golden stars in the Champions League, with the Bucs winning gold in 1995 while Sundowns were crowned champions in 2016. Our clubs also need to be willing to sell their players to overseas clubs. Countries like Cameroon, Senegal, Ghana and Nigeria are consistent contestants in both major African and world tournaments because the majority of their players are pursuing their trade in top clubs in Europe. Clubs need to be adequately compensated for their prospective exports, but by virtue of the fact that South Africa is languishing below 50 in the Fifa ratings, this affects the value of our players negatively. We therefore should not overprice our players. Moeti Molelekoa, Welkom
