Hans Vonk

He was a top professional – you could see from the way he carried himself that he played overseas. His attitude, his kit and what he ate – everything about him was about professionalism. As a goalkeeper, he used to guide me as well.

Lesley Langa

Lesley was underrated but people don’t talk about him because he was not flashy. He made me a better player and made me shine. He helped me so much at Golden Arrows and taught me how to deal with strikers. He played for Kaizer Chiefs way too early in his career and there was too much pressure.

Lucky Lekgwathi

My former teammate at Ria Stars and long before he became a right-back, he was my fellow centre-back. I was playing as a sweeper and he was a man-marker and he listened. He was very fit and led by example.

John‘Shoes’ Moshoeu

Today I’m doing the job that I’m doing because of all the lessons I learnt from Shoes. He was so intelligent and aware of what happening in a game. He was a great human being.

Shaun Bartlett

What a professional. People like Shaun are a rare breed in a sense that he was an important player in all the teams that he played for. He didn’t run away from defenders, he used to get stuck in.
