Most league titles

Mamelodi Sundowns’ third successive title in August not only set the records tumbling but also confirmed the Pretoria club’s dominance of the domestic game and an end to the previous hegemony of the Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

Their 2020-21 success means they have now won 13 times, overhauling Chiefs’ previous record of 12.

Coach Pitso Mosimane became the first coach to win five league titles, and three of his players – captain Kekana, Ugandan international goalkeeper Dennis Onyango and Liberian veteran Anthony Laffor – the first to win seven league titles.
