Bafana miss out to Afcon

-

For South Africa to be believe it has a national team … forget it! We were almost thinking we qualified only to come unstuck in the two last games against Ghana and Sudan.

It was really disappointing for Bafana Bafana. Problem with the national team is that the selection of players is not done accordingly. I once said that SAFA needs to appoint football experts, about 20 of them, to analyse every player in the DStv Premiership to make sure that we select players that are deemed fit to be in the national team.

I must say we were shocked for the inclusion of Itumeleng Khune, who has been on the bench for most of the Kaizer Chiefs matches, then you wonder what criteria was used to select him? You cannot be the best while you sitting on the bench during the games. I would advise Khune to be loaned out where he will regain that fitness again.

I stand to be corrected but a one-man show [as a coach] does not work. You cannot tell me one man must analyse local players and those playing overseas? Never, other than that it means SAFA is a battle ground for positions, not implementing ideas that will change South African football for good.

It’s been disappointment after disappointment when it comes to the national team and I don’t see anything changing soon! By Johannes Letsholo in Kimberley Northern Cape
