Peter Shalulile
The Mamelodi Sundowns talisman is nominated for the KICK OFF Footballer of the Season for a second successive year and is hoping to this time take home the prize. The 27-year-old forward is evidently in the peak of his career and has looked like a seasoned campaigner in the colours of The Brazilians, despite only arriving in Chloorkop from Highlands Park at the start of the 2020/21 campaign. Shalulile has combined superbly with his new teammates, in particular his strike partner Kermit Erasmus, as well as Themba Zwane and Gaston Sirino. The quality surrounding him at the Tshwane giants has truly brought the best out of the Namibia international, who is racing towards joining the PSL’s exclusive club of players that have scored 50 league goals. ‘Mr Tuck-in’ has not allowed his move to one of the League’s traditional big three to go to his head, with his humility, work-rate and discipline still very much evident in his game. He also looks set to eclipse his 16-goal total with the Lions of the North that saw him share the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot with Orlando Pirates striker Gabadinho Mhango last season. With a handful of assists to his name, it is indicative of his unselfish nature despite possessing a healthy appetite for goal. Shalulile also seems to be that missing link that Sundowns have been lacking up front in their desperate quest for a second CAF Champions League crown in the near future.
