Bradley Grobler
Grobler narrowly missed out on a KICK OFF Footballer of the Season nomination last campaign after his impressive 17-goal tally across all competitions for SuperSport United. However, his consistency has ensured he is not overlooked this time around as he guns for his first ever Golden Boot award, after having led the scoring charts for most of the season. At 33 years old, he is the eldest among the 2020/21 nominees but happens to be the deadliest in front of goal – having averaged a goal every 130 minutes as at the end of March. He also broke a longstanding club record after surpassing the late Abram Raselemane’s tally of 57 goals for Matsatsantsa back in January. His influence is massive, and he is sorely missed whenever he is unavailable for Kaitano Tembo’s charges, as was evident in their league games against TS Galaxy and Stellenbosch FC. When fully fit, Grobler’s eye for goal causes headaches for any goalkeeper in the PSL, as he is not only strong aerially but with both his left and right feet too. His positioning and anticipation are also two of his strongest attributes, and his knack for being in the right place at the right moment is central to his scoring prowess. It is also no surprise that he has been heavily linked with Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs in recent times, and his performances this season is sure to increase his suitors’ desire to lure him over from the Tshwane outfit.
